The Cyprus Foundations Administration, which was established with the understanding of philanthropy and solidarity and has been standing for 450 years, is one of the oldest foundation institutions. Starting from the day the island came under Ottoman rule, especially the initiatives and studies put forward by the elders of the state (Sultan, vizier and other high-ranking civil servants) and everyone who has the power to establish a foundation have brought the number of foundations established from that period to the present day to two thousand.
